VMSA offers introductory, intermediate & advanced pitching clinics for players interested in developing their windmill pitching skills. Windmill style pitching is a complicated skill which requires considerable time and effort to develop, and which can not be developed without proper coaching. We are fortunate to have clinicians available to us who have a proven record of developing top ranked pitchers from players in our association.

Softball pitching is a unique and complex skill and is also a core component of any softball game. As such, pitchers require specialized pitching instruction to develop proper mechanics & techniques, as well as to develop general game knowledge and
awareness.

VMSA Pitching Clinics are designed to meet players at their current level (i.e. complete beginners to experienced pitchers) and help them develop the necessary skills and confidence to be successful on the pitching mound in a softball game. While the softball pitching levels outlined below are not age-dependent, mastery of some of the pitching fundamentals may require a certain amount of physical and emotional maturity.

For all VMSA pitching clinics, PITCHERS MUST BRING THEIR OWN CATCHER FOR EACH SESSION. For safety purposes, please ensure that the catcher you bring is comfortable with the pitching speed.

Catching is the most under-coached position in softball. Players wishing to play as a catcher are strongly advised to enroll in this clinic. Players who are interested in catching are also encouraged to attend any of the pitching clinics to catch for pitchers at no extra charge.

These clinics will build on established catching mechanics and focus on improving movement efficiency & consistency. To help players prepare for catching in games/game-like situations, an emphasis will also be placed on developing the players' understanding of pitch calling & catching mentality.

For all VMSA Catching clinics, catchers will be required to bring their own catching equipment including helmet, glove, chest protector, shin guards and protective Jill. Catcher’s equipment cannot be shared during a session.

These clinics focus on the fundamental elements of hitting including approach, stance, grip, load, timing, watching the ball, follow-through and bunting. Players will have the opportunity to work through multiple stations, each focusing on a different aspect of hitting and clinics involve lots of swings and contact.

These clinics will focus on a variety of softball skills including offence, defence and game play. Additional, specialized clinics may be added from time-to-time as required.
